With about forty colleagues and clients we were at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam Ahoy. With Coppa Group we support wheelchair tennis players Jinte Bos, Lizzy de Greef, Robin Groenewoud, Maarten ter Hofte and Maikel Scheffers. They shared their story of top sports with us and we enjoyed their wonderful matches and achievements. Also on the program were a backstage tour and a meet & greet with Richard Krajicek. It was a great day!
Highest level of wheelchair tennis
At Coppa Group, we are incredibly proud of the performance of our wheelchair tennis players during the AHOY Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam. At the highest international level they showed what resilience, talent and top sports mentality mean.
Men: fight to the last point
On the men's side, Maarten ter Hofte started the tournament strongly with a handsome victory over Daniel Caverzaschi. In the quarterfinals awaited the very experienced Stéphane Houdet (55). In an exciting match Maarten eventually had to acknowledge his superiority, but he proved again that he can compete with the absolute world top.
Robin Groenewoud immediately faced a tough opponent in the first round: Ruben Spaargaren, currently ranked No. 8 in the world. Not an easy draw - and certainly no shame to lose here.
In the doubles Robin and Maarten fought for all they were worth against Tom Egberink and Casey Ratzlaff. In an exciting match they just missed the victory. Too bad, because they could have done better.
Ladies: top performances against world leaders
For the ladies Lizzy de Greef secured a beautiful victory over Jiske Griffioen. In a game full of misses and brilliant rallies Lizzy won after three sets. In the next round none other than Diede de Groot was waiting. Lizzy lost in three sets, but just forcing such an exciting match against the world number three is an achievement.
Jinte Bos lost her first round match to Ksenia Chasteau, a match in which there were certainly opportunities.
In the doubles, Lizzy and Jinte took on the strong duo of Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot. Despite a combative match, their tournament stranded here in the first round.
Rise in world rankings
The efforts and achievements of our athletes earn valuable points for the world rankings (singles). We proudly share their current positions:
- Lizzy - 8e of the world
- Maarten - 15e of the world
- Jinte - 13e of the world
- Robin - 24e of the world
Each one of them achievements to be proud of. As a sponsor, we at Coppa Group are honored to support these world-class athletes on their way to even greater international successes. Their perseverance and ambition perfectly match what we as an organization stand for.
On to the next challenge!
