Supervising relocation of Schiphol teams to WTC

From December 2023 to July 2024, VFM supervised the relocation of Schiphol Group's Airport Operations & Aviation Partnerships (AO&AP) departments. Due to lack of space in the terminal and the growing need for a modern working environment, it was decided to relocate the department to the WTC building at Schiphol. VFM was asked to supervise both the design process and the implementation phase of this transition.

From design strategy to realization

Project Managers Lobke Verbocht and Lisa Haitsma fulfilled a coordinating role in this project on behalf of VFM. In collaboration with the architectural firm VOID, an internal project team at Schiphol and a sounding board group of end users, we worked toward a sustainable, inspiring and hybrid work concept. VFM supervised the entire design process, from test kits to the final design. The execution was also managed. Contract agreements were drawn up, H&S plans written and detailed schedules observed. An important ambition of Schiphol was to focus on circularity in the working environment. VFM therefore advised on the reuse of existing furniture and fixed furnishing elements.

A work environment for the future

The new office concept - based on Connecting@Schiphol - encourages activity-oriented work, flexibility and cooperation. Instead of fixed rules, frameworks have been created that provide room for the teams' own interpretation. The offices are flexible and accessible to all Schiphol employees. The reactions after putting the offices into operation have been extremely positive: employees feel welcome and experience the environment as fresh, functional and future-oriented.
