The Netherlands Institute for Public Safety (NIPV) is a leading knowledge institute in the field of crisis management and firefighting in the Netherlands. The NIPV manages a national crisis management system that is crucial for the safety of the Netherlands. This system must therefore always be available. Although the performance of, and experiences with, the platform are generally good, it became clear from recent incidents that there were areas for improvement. The NIPV took these signals very seriously and decided to engage external help from Arlande to future-proof their services.
From analysis to approach
In order to future-proof the systems of the NIPV and further professionalize their services, an in-depth analysis of the current situation was carried out and clear scenarios for optimal 24/7 ICT management were drawn up.
A total of six scenarios were developed, ranging from optimizing the existing situation to fully outsourcing 24/7 support. Each scenario was carefully evaluated based on criteria such as customer satisfaction, cost, feasibility and the extent to which it contributes to professional support.
All this was summarized in a clear advisory report with concrete arguments of the pros and cons of the scenarios.
The result: future-proof crisis management
The final advice to NIPV was based on a hybrid model in which the current situation was optimized and combined with 24/7 on-call services at NIPV and a specialized external party. In this way, NIPV would experience the greatest added value at the lowest possible burden. With exceeded expectations, NIPV also trusted Arlande to prepare an implementation plan based on the recommended scenario.
